As a thank you for all the hard work she does crafting her magical photos, we got down and nerdy (pun intended) with Sara about the books she's geeking out about (One of which is one of our all time favorites too - squee!!) Make sure you click her ticket above and follow her on IG and show her some much deserved love! Without further ado.... come get your book nerd on with Sara!
Question 1: What sparked your love of reading? (Give me all the deets!)
I have always been an avid reader but I vividly remember receiving books 1 and 2 of Harry Potter when they first came out when I was in middle school. I got both books at once and didn't know anything about them (fun fact my book 1 does not say year 1 on the spine either) so I actually read book 2 first. From then on I typically had a book in hand.
Question 2: What book could you read over and over again and never get tired of?
I have one book called The China Garden by Liz Berry that I typically read every year, I actually own 2 copies because I broke the binding on my first copy because I read it so much. Sherrilyn Kenyon/McQueen is one of my favorite authors and I could read any of her books over and over again. Her Dark Hunter Series is truly magical and incredibly intertwined.
PS: The China Garden is one of my all time favorite books too, I've never met someone else who's read it, so I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE IT MENTIONED!!!!
Question 3: When did you start blogging? For books or otherwise?
I actually found the bookstagram community about 3 years ago and started taking pictures on my "regular" account. About 2 years ago I created a new instagram account for book photos and then during the pandemic that I really started becoming more active on my book account.
Question 4: WHY did you start Bookstagramming (or Book Blogging/Toking etc.) in particular? What drives you (other than the love of books LOL)? The community? The creative side? The review writing part? Taking photos?
There were a couple of book accounts that I discovered about 3 years ago and I just loved that there was a place for people to show off their books and how much they love them. This community is wonderful and I really enjoy getting to know fellow bookworms. For me as someone who is not artistic (I draw a great stick figure) taking book photos is my creative outlet and something I have started to really enjoy. I love finding new set ups from fellow bookstagrammers and creating a cohesive theme on my page.
Question 5: Name a book you think doesn’t get enough hype in any of the na/adult fantasy/pnr romance genres! Indie or mainstream publishing!
I continue to gush over the series The Bridge Kingdom by Danelle L Jenson and I can re-read the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning all the time.
Question 6: What are you currently reading? Bonus: What’s up next?
Currently reading The Solace of Sharp Claws by Lana Pecherczyk! Probably continuing the series next with The Dreams of Broken Kings.
YAAAS we love her books!
Question 7: What’s your favorite sub-genre of fantasy? (References if you need them: https://www.papermythsmedia.com//genreandheatlevelguides)
I tend to read lots of High Fantasy or Paranormal fantasy.
Question 8: How about your favorite tropes? (Examples: Enemies to lovers? Fated Mates, Love Triangle, Fairytale Retelling, Assassins, Pirates, Thieves etc.)
Not sure if I specifically have a favorite, as long as the story is good I typically love the book.
Final Question: Last but not least… Who’s your wildest dream unicorn author to work with/receive an arc of their book/do a tour with?
Ooohhh boy this is hard! I feel like Sarah J Mass would be amazing but if I could get an arc of the next book in the Bridge Kingdom Series or from Sherrilyn Kenyon that would be amazing.
