Carly took the time to fill out our short questionnaire, so we could really get to know her, as a thank you for all the hard work she does crafting her magical photos! Make sure you click her ticket above and follow her on IG and show her some much deserved love! Without further ado.... let's dive in!
Question 1: What sparked your love of reading? (Give me all the deets!)
My mom read to me from the time I was a baby! Some of the earliest books I remember her reading to me were The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, which sparked my love for fantasy. When I was around 11 I read Suzanne Collins’ The Underland Chronicles, which absolutely hooked me on reading for fun and remains one of my all-time favorites to this day.
Question 2: What book could you read over and over again and never get tired of?
That’s a tough one, because there are so many! I love to reread books. Any of the Shadowhunter novels, the Nightrunner books by Lynn Flewelling, and All for the Game by Nora Sakavic are some of my most-read.
Question 3: When did you start blogging? For books or otherwise?
I started a multifandom account for fanart stuff probably around 2013 or 2014. Then I was a Sarah J. Maas fan account for years, until I finally decided to get into Bookstagram and book photography for real.
Question 4: WHY did you start Bookstagramming (or Book Blogging/Toking etc.) in particular? What drives you (other than the love of books LOL)? The community? The creative side? The review writing part? Taking photos?
I’ve always been a huge lover of photography, and the Bookstagram community is so supportive and fun to be a part of. I love getting to talk to authors and shop owners and generally spread the book-love!
Question 5: Name a book you think doesn’t get enough hype in any of the na/adult fantasy/pnr romance genres! Indie or mainstream publishing!
Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente is a great book, especially for fans of stories like Shadow and Bone or The Bear and the Nightingale.
Question 6: What are you currently reading? Bonus: What’s up next?
I’m currently reading Hailey Turner’s A Vigil in the Mourning, the most recent book in the Soulbound series (which is great, everyone should check it out). I’m not sure what’s up next just yet! I’m a mood reader.
Question 7: What’s your favorite sub-genre of fantasy? (References if you need them: https://www.papermythsmedia.com//genreandheatlevelguides)
High fantasy! It’s my Lord of the Rings roots.
Question 8: How about your favorite tropes? (Examples: Enemies to lovers? Fated Mates, Love Triangle, Fairytale Retelling, Assassins, Pirates, Thieves etc.)
For me, nothing beats a good enemies to lovers arc.
Final Question: Last but not least… Who’s your wildest dream unicorn author to work with/receive an arc of their book/do a tour with?
Ooh, this is a tough one. I adore C.S. Pacat’s writing, and would love to work with her!
